Great question!
Well, in my fanon universe, yes and no.
Adora is not dead as of now, but she can't transform into She-Ra because I made it a system where it runs in the family, and when the child turns 13, the power gets handed over to them. I also made up that there's a series of planets, and most of them were destroyed by Horde Prime, including Eternia, but She-Ra was supposed to be anyone who was biologically Eternian or from one of the planets.
Anyone in Adora's family might be She-Ra. She-Ra usually gets chosen by a special society, but right now, people in her family are the only ones that can get chosen as She-Ra, as the only ones who are alive and biologically Eternian. The Eternians were descended from a very long line of people from different planets, all ruled by that special society, which kept rebooting again and again and again, up until the Heart of Etheria project.
Now, all that's left of citizens from those special planets, is Adora's family. "She-Ra is not the sword. She-Ra is you!"
More importantly: not just you, but also the fact that you are Eternian.
